Ohhh en Kadhal Kanmaniye

I remember noting down the time points in the movie, where Adi and Tara are recklessly flirting with each other, and sending it to the boy I was in love with at that time. I also remember crying while watching OK Jaanu and calling up my friend to cry about how that boy was no longer in love with me. Months later, the movie didn't make me cry over a lost love or give me aches while watching it. And few more months went by and another boy started calling me Kanmani and Parandhu Sellava became "our" song. And when that love also turned toxic and made me run away with my life, I thought maybe now I'll hate this movie and retch every time Adi called Tara "Kanmani". But no. This movie remained sweet and beautiful. Five years ago on this day, this movie was released. I still hope for a love like Adi and Tara's. And I still believe in a love like Ganapathy uncle and Bhavani aunty.
All the songs in this movie are still on my go-to playlist. I've never loved ARR more. 'Theeraa ulaa' still gives me a spinning head bringing back the thoughts about this guy, who I started loving, fully knowing he'll never be mine.
"Makku kanmani" is still the sweetest insult.
OK Kanmani will always be on my favourite movies-of-all-time list, regardless of me finding the Adi to my Tara.
