Wishes thrown out into the universe

On nights when I am alone,

With just a warm bundle with four paws for company,

I do wish for you.

I wish we were watching old romedies together,

Or newer ones,

Fighting for bigger share of the blanket.

Or maybe reading different books,

Most probably facing away,

Because it doesn't matter anymore,

At lights out we would still find our way back to each other.

Sometimes when it's windy,

Leftovers of Winter,

I wish you were sitting here,

Under these fairy lights,

Cribbing about the cold,

Trying to cuddle closer.

I wish for chai after a long day,

Different cigarette smokes mixing,

Leaning into each other,

Drawing strength together.

Maybe it's the hope of waking up together

Or going to bed together,

It makes me think about different skies.

Maybe it'll never be,

So I don't dream a lot,

Just wishes thrown out into the universe.
